Lock In photos!!!

For anyone who doesn’t know, the lock in is a fun event that we host about twice a year. We hang out and eat junk food and watch movies until the wee hours of the morning.

And it’s free.

Just sayin’.

We had a good turnout this time! I think we had 23 or 24 people.

If any of you get the chance, thank Pizza Hut for giving us a tremendous amount of free pizza.

Here’s some pics that I took. If you have some you want added, e-mail them to me at the e-mail at the bottom of the post.

TRAIN 3/20

ok ok I know, meeting was on Saturday and it’s Thursday. Blame the college for putting me behind.

  • Our books, the new ones, are starting to come in. Not all of them are in the department yet, because they got put in with the kids stuff. They’re presently being sorted.
  • If we don’t start coming to book club, they’re going to cancel it! We’ve moved it to FRIDAY from 4:00-5:30. please come!!!
  • School outreach! If you want Krissy to come to your school and talk about the library, ask your teachers, bug Krissy (don’t really bug her) and she’ll do it.
  • We had fun at Mardi Gras (at least you guys did because I was in Astronomy class :\) but let’s try to make it bigger next time. Also—if you participated, if you intend to come to the next one, if you care at all and even if you don’t, you need to write a nice thank you letter to the people who gave us free food for the party (and for any party, for that matter) so that they know that we are grateful (and so that they’ll do it again). Hand it to the manager and thank them in person, too.
  • Caron Day (lock in) is April 10-11. The sign-ups are in the children’s department, and I’ll get them up here ASAP for download.
  • Our video sale fund raiser is coming up. We’ll get more details later but for now, just know that you will be needed!
  • SRP: starts June 14th! the theme is MAKE WAVES AT YOUR LIBRARY! so start making artwork, and start thinking videos for the lock in at the end.
  • Do y’all want to do Poetry Cafe? April is National Poetry Month so we need to decide fast. leave a comment. please.
  • Krissy needs volunteers to dress up as (old) celebrities for the Gala at the theatre. E-mail her.

Y’all know Krissy’s e-mail, right? Cuz if not we need to fix that. I won’t put it up here because she’ll get a whole ton of spam.

Next meeting: April 17th

TRAIN 2/20

Krissy was in a good mood this week. She bought a black t-shirt she liked, then went back and bought four more. We love Krissy. :D

Krissy’s birthday is next Saturday!

Collection Development: we have bought more books! If you have more suggestions, e-mail them. If you have movie ideas, send them also. For YA, it has to be PG-13 or below.

Book Club: We would love for you to come to book club, even if it’s just for a few minutes!

Mardi Gras: March 1, 6-8. The tickets are free, but you need to get your ticket! Talk to your friends and get them to come! We need volunteers to “help set up” which really means hang out. so why would you say no?

Video Sales: We have waaaay to many video TAPES. No seriously. We’re going to be selling them on March 25-27th

“Make Waves at your Library!” is the theme for SRP. We need artwork. Get inspired. We’re really liking dark heather grey with white writing. So start drawing.

Caron Day (Lock In)—April 10th We all love Caron so much that we planned an entire event around his returning to America for the weekend… But our numbers need to go up, and we need to bring a friend. We need to think about what kind of food we want to eat. leave a comment. 6-foot sub? sushi? Chinese food? pbj and goldfish. We also need movies: It may be the last over-12-year-old lock in… so let’s find a good movie? But nothing that will scare Krissy.

Everyone needs to join Jim Chittick Survivor so that Jim can be on Survivor!

SRP begins on June 14th!

Next meeting: MARCH 20TH

February 27th is Krissy’s Birthday!!!

In the next few months (probably late February or March) there will be a sale of videos and we’re looking for volunteers. E-mail Krissy

Our lock-in is on April 10th! yay!

we are now boycotting Wendy’s because they are not only crappy, but they are very mean and disrespectful to Krissy.

a tie :(

There's a tie between Neverending Story and Leviathan.

I will say that Leviathan is at Waldenbooks at the mall. there's four or so copies left and they're 40% off... which makes them about $12. I didn't check for the other title.

So leave a comment on this post: Neverending Story, or Leviathan?
